Stanford University Post Doctoral Position: Water Infrastructure and Natural Systems

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Stanford University seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar with experience in water infrastructure and natural systems management to participate in research for the NSF Engineering Research Center for Re-inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt).

Qualified candidates will have a technical background (e.g., Environmental Engineering and Science; Natural Resources Management), with an ability to contribute to systems-level research that facilitates technical innovations within existing water management practices and institutional arrangements. Contributions to research activities are anticipated for projects that: (1) integrate natural systems in urban water infrastructure (e.g., unit process wetlands, recycled water for ecosystem enhancement, and stormwater capture and reuse); and (2) improves regional water management and/or facilitates innovations in water infrastructure.

The position will include coordination of research activities as well as mentoring of graduate student researchers in the Environmental Engineering & Science program at Stanford. The candidate should have strong writing skills and will be expected to co-author peer-reviewed publications and contribute to research reports that meet overall ReNUWIt Center objectives. As part of ReNUWIt, the selected candidate will work in interdisciplinary teams of researchers from Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, Colorado School of Mines, and New Mexico State University [renuwit.org].
